2009 Weekly Garbage Pickup Instructions

  • Garbage & recycling should be out by 8 a.m. on the morning of pick-up

Garbage

  • Max. 2 garbage bags PLUS recycling. Additional bags are $3.00 ea. & tags can be purchased at Maitland Store, Long Beach Convenience Store & Goodbye Junk’s 156 Bartholomew Street Brockville location.
  • Regular garbage bags must be used; oversized leaf or lawn bags will require tags for pick-up.
  • We ask our customers using garbage containers when disposing of trash to ensure there are in fact garbage bags inside the containers. Containers that do not have garbage bags inside will not be picked up.
  • Recycling must be placed in recycle boxes or clear bags.
  • All cardboard MUST be tied & bundled.
  • Container recycling weeks include: all plastics, glass, metal & aluminum cans.
  • Fiber weeks include: paper, newspaper, flyers & inserts.

Recycling

  • We Only Accept Clean Plastics
    • Plastic containers with symbol #1 – without caps (H20, juice & pop bottles.)
    • Natural & coloured plastic containers with symbol #2 (milk, H20, detergent, shampoo, windshield fluid containers, etc.)
    • Tubs & lids, plastics with symbols #2, 4, 5 & 7 (margarine, yogurt, ketchup & salad dressing containers.)
  • We Only Accept Clean Metal and Aluminum Cans
    • Aluminum food / beverage containers
    • Tin Cans
  • Glass
    • Glass food / beverage containers – brown, clear or green
  • Paper, Newspaper, Flyers / Inserts
    • Newspapers, catalogues, magazines, telephone directories, printer & copy paper
    • Boxboard (broken down) detergent / laundry cartons, cereal, crackers, cookies, etc.
    • Corrugated cardboard (broken down) PLEASE DO NOT include waxed or coated boxes.

MATERIALS THAT GOODBYE JUNK DO NOT ACCEPT IN RECYCLING

  • Styrofoam, plastic bags, food trays, wrapping & packaging, glass cookware, mirrors, windows, light bulbs, ceramics, porcelain & coat hangers
